October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month  and we celebrated our 40th anniversary by holding an adult prom. 

​

At this years's celebration, the community came together to recognize CAP and spread awareness around domestic violence and sexual assault. 

​

At our prom, we crowned Hakim Burgess Prom King and Roz Manley as our Prom Queen.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month  and we wanted to let you know we are resuming our annual breakfast again this year!

 

Thursday, October 20 from 8am - 10am, we will be hosting our breakfast at the Waldorf Jaycees. Our speaker this year will be LaShawn Ricks, who witnessed domestic violence growing up. Please join us to hear her story. 

 

All proceeds will go to CAP and to help us do what we do best- provide services to domestic violence and sexual assault victims, as well as others in crisis in Charles County.

Calling all runners and people that want to take steps for a cause! Our 2nd annual Steps To End Violence Everywhere (S.T.E.V.E.) 5K is happening in the spring and we're excited! Join us!

 

Like last year, you're welcome to join us in person at the Indian Head Rail Trail in White Plains, or participate virtually- run your distance anywhere and submit your time.

 

Proceeds support CAP's work with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and others in crisis in Charles County.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we wanted to let you know about an upcoming fundraiser & virtual event we’re excited for! Save the date!

 

Thursday, October 21 from 4-7 pm, swing by Ka'Ribbean Fire in La Plata for delicious local food (pre-order or in person) and tune into our 2nd annual virtual town hall on Zoom!

 

25% of proceeds go to CAP and help us do what we do best- provide services to domestic violence and sexual assault victims, as well as others in crisis in Charles County.

The Center for Abused Persons is proud to announce our first ever 5K event! Early bird registration discount!

 

Proceeds will help CAP provide critical services to victims of domestic violence and or sexual assault.

Come visit us at the La Plata Farmer's Market this October, for Domestic Violence Awareness Month! We'll be there with information, as well as Plinko!

 

More on the Farmer's Market:

The Farmers Market vendors sells a wide variety of goods, from fresh fruits, vegetables, and home-baked goods, to jams, jellies, pickled vegetables, local spirits, and home-made crafts and bath and body products. The market also features food trucks with a variety of ready-to-eat food, drinks, and snacks.

CAP's Virtual Town Hall

On October 15th, 2020, CAP held its first virtual town hall in place of the Community Breakfast. Speakers include Charles County Sheriff Troy Berry, and Roz Manley, who is a domestic violence survivor as well as a domestic violence advocate. It was a success thanks to everyone that participated!
